The Reluctant Dragon (Audio Book)- performed by Jim Weiss

As I type this review, I've begun listening to this story again in the background of my laptop. It's that good. Declan already asked to listen to it on our road trip this July also.

If you aren't familiar with The Reluctant Dragon by Kenneth Grahame, it will make your book-loving kids swoon. The dragon in question loves poetry and hates fighting. Saint George should be slaying the dragon, but after hearing about the gentle nature of the beast from a local boy, he agrees to explore the possibility of a fake fight. As much as the boy wants to see an epic battle he puts that aside to save the dragon's life. The voices in this audio version make the adventure come alive.

Let's talk more about this particular audio version. From the publisher-

Jim Weiss & Well-Trained Mind Press: Stories of the World, for the World's Children.

*Local laws apply. Ancient, rune-covered scrolls not available in Hawaii, Tennessee, or within 1000 feet of a stone circle, barrow, or henge. Well-Trained Mind Press assumes no liability for any dragon-summonings that may occur as a result of scroll-readings. See the case of Laketown v. Baggins.

I haven't "met" anyone over at the Well Trained MInd Press, but I do feel like they are my people. Jim Weiss has been a family favorite as a  performer since around 2001. Jim doesn't just read a story; he weaves a spellbinding tale so enthralling that even if you know the story, you sit at the edge of your seat waiting for what will happen next.  True storytellers are few and far between these days, and I'm so glad that Jim is still releasing new material.

Please note that I received a free advance MP3 of this book from The Well Trained Mind Press without a review requirement or any influence regarding review content should I choose to post a review. Apart from that, I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.
