The Great British Bake Off: Learn to Bake 80 easy recipes for all the family

We're starting a new quarter here, and I added baking to the afternoon that we study poetry. We traditionally eat some dessert type item while studying poetry each week, so learning to bake it from scratch seems like the logical next step. I know how to bake two things from scratch: brownies and chocolate chip cookies so I'm looking forward to learning the difference between rolling out and rubbing in. I've also never mastered separating an egg so we'll learn together and every Wednesday night there should be a delicious treat for everyone.

The book covers everything from common ingredients, basic equipment, and baking terms before any recipe. Then there are chapters on cakes, cupcakes, biscuits, bread, pastry, and puddings.

I'm planning on using most of the book by the end of the Summer. There are eighty recipes, and so it'll take awhile to get through the entire thing. Stay tuned on Instagram for some pictures of our efforts.

I'm a lifelong bibliophile who happens to love children's books and who should have become a librarian. Instead I horde books in case of apocalypse or the enactment of a Fahrenheit 451 type law. My five kids accept my addiction and have learned to accept books in odd places.
