The title says it all it's a book of survival stories. The format (which is beautiful) makes it more accessible to younger readers, but the subject matter is pretty grim so you'd have to find the right fit as far as the ideal reader goes. I liked the short story format which lends itself to reading one a week or something like that. We are planning a survival/preparedness unit so I may use my copy in that. I don't think I'll sit down and read this aloud day after day straight through. That's not necessarily a bad thing I just feel like it has to be said. Kids who like Bear Grylls will love this.

I'm a lifelong bibliophile who happens to love children's books and who should have become a librarian. Instead I horde books in case of apocalypse or the enactment of a Fahrenheit 451 type law. My five kids accept my addiction and have learned to accept books in odd places.
