Not Quite Narwhal

This tale is almost a modern spin on the ugly duckling only this time Kelp is accepted in both worlds equally and automatically. I can't think of a better message for young kids to hear.

Kelp lives underwater with some narwhals and knows he is different from them, but until he is swept away in the current, he isn't sure why he is so different.

It turns out Kelp is a unicorn, and the narwhals knew all along. Eventually, he finds a way to live in both worlds, and there are lovely illustrations of all things unicorn, narwhal, and rainbow.

I luckily met Jessie at ALA and have an autographed copy of this book up in our bookcase.

I'm a lifelong bibliophile who happens to love children's books and who should have become a librarian. Instead I horde books in case of apocalypse or the enactment of a Fahrenheit 451 type law. My five kids accept my addiction and have learned to accept books in odd places.
