I was thrilled to meet Brendan Wenzel this weekend at ALA. We had a quick chat about picture books and how a good book is a good book- regardless of who the market audience is. He loved my picture books are for everyone stance. Anyway, this book makes me smile.

The first line reads, "Life begins small."  “Then it grows.”

The illustrations take you all through the animal world showing what they love and giving the reader some life lessons:

"Life is not always easy. There will probably be a stretch of wilderness now and then."

Isn't that the truth.

This story is simply one of those "keeper" books that you'll read over and over again and save after your little ones are big. A new classic.

Unfortunately, I can't share images from inside the book directly. You can use this link for a sneak preview, and as a bonus, I have this printable activity to share with you.

I'm a lifelong bibliophile who happens to love children's books and who should have become a librarian. Instead I horde books in case of apocalypse or the enactment of a Fahrenheit 451 type law. My five kids accept my addiction and have learned to accept books in odd places.
