YA SciFi may be my new addiction. In this Dystopian future set in Taipei, Taiwan. The "You" girls and guys have it all. They wear suits and helmets that are air conditioned, they get vaccinations and are expected to live a normal life span in a world where everyone else dies by the age of forty due to global warming and pollution.

Jason Zhou is a "mei," but he must pose as a "you" when he and his friends make a plan to take down Jin Corp, the corporation that provides the suits to the rich "yous" and dominates the Taiwanese economy. This setting is a polluted (future/alternate) Taipei, dominated by a corporate tyrant that is paying off governmentofficials to keep the pollution coming so he can keep his company on top and making billions of dollars. I saw a lot of our current world and presidency in this book. And it’s pretty terrifying.

Want is definitely on the older end of YA. I had some complaints about the plot and side characters ( Probably because the book was a short story in its original form) but I love the concept and genre enough to suggest that if this is your type of book, it's worth checking out of the library. I do look forward to whatever Ms. Pon comes up with next.

I'm a lifelong bibliophile who happens to love children's books and who should have become a librarian. Instead I horde books in case of apocalypse or the enactment of a Fahrenheit 451 type law. My five kids accept my addiction and have learned to accept books in odd places.
