Marine Science for Kids
There is a real lack of proper science books for elementary school in the homeschool arena. This one would work well for after schoolers as well. The projects are completely doable and as I gushed on Twitter- the first one is making a cookie earth. Yes, please.
Covering everything from how marine science works to careers in marine science this book could be used for a semester if you divide science into 2/3 days a week. There is a bit of a continuing narrative that we enjoyed, and it doesn’t have the dry textbook tone that bores kids. We played ecosystem Jenga and it really brought home how connected we are with all other living things. Making an edible coral reef was just delicious.
The bibliography and timeline are excellent resources, and I found that the experiments actually worked. (which isn’t always the case with science books)
I read a DRC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This isn’t going to be published until June, but the bright side to that is it would make a fun Summer school project. We highly recommend this one.
